December 3<\/strong> Humanity\u2019s Fall<\/em>: Genesis. 3:1-7 and 23-24 Symbols:<\/em> tree, serpent, apple with bite<\/p>\n\n\n\n

23 <\/sup><\/strong>therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken. 24 <\/sup><\/strong>He drove out the man; and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim, and a sword flaming and turning to guard the way to the tree of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now the serpent was more crafty than any other wild animal that the\u00a0Lord\u00a0God had made. He said to the woman, \u201cDid God say, \u2018You shall not eat from any tree in the garden\u2019?\u201d\u00a02\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>The woman said to the serpent, \u201cWe may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden;\u00a03\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>but God said, \u2018You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the garden, nor shall you touch it, or you shall die.\u2019\u201d\u00a04\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>But the serpent said to the woman, \u201cYou will not die;\u00a05\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>for God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God,[<\/sup>a<\/sup><\/a>]<\/sup>\u00a0knowing good and evil.\u201d\u00a06\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate; and she also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate.\u00a07\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made loincloths for themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
