{"id":236,"date":"2020-12-17T17:27:43","date_gmt":"2020-12-17T17:27:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sothwy.org\/readings\/?p=236"},"modified":"2021-03-03T20:45:51","modified_gmt":"2021-03-03T20:45:51","slug":"jesus-is-wisdom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/sothwy.org\/readings\/2020\/12\/17\/jesus-is-wisdom\/","title":{"rendered":"Jesus is wisdom"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>December 17<\/strong>&nbsp;<em>Jesus is Wisdom:<\/em>&nbsp;Sirach 24:2; Wisdom 8:1&nbsp;<em>Symbols:<\/em>&nbsp;oil lamp, open book<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On December 17, the Church begins to intensify the preparation for Christmas with the use of the &#8220;O&#8221; Antiphons, expressed for us in the words of \u201cO Come, O Come Emmanuel.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sirach and Wisdom are part of what is known as the Apochrypha which is not in Protestant Bibles.&nbsp; The Apochrypha, however, is commended to be studied and read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sirach 24:1-2<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wisdom praises herself,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and tells of her glory in the midst of her people.<br><strong><sup>2&nbsp;<\/sup><\/strong>In the assembly of the Most High she opens her mouth,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and in the presence of his hosts she tells of her glory<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wisdom 8:1&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[Wisdom] reaches mightily from one end of the earth to the other,<br>and she orders all things well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O come, Thou Wisdom from on high,<br>And order all things, far and nigh;<br>To us the path of knowledge show,<br>And cause us in her ways to go.<br>Rejoice! Rejoice!
